How To Grow Strawberries From Seed - Fastest method

Steps to Grow Strawberries from Seed

Step 1: Extract the Seeds

Take mature and ripe strawberries. Rub the seeds off with your fingers. These black dots are the seeds. As you run your finger over the strawberry, the seeds will come loose.

Step 2: Prepare the Potting Mix

For the potting mix, take:

• 60% coco peat or coco coir

• 40% organic compost

Mix these components well to create a nutrient-rich medium for your seeds.

Step 3: Fill the Seedling Tray

Take a seedling tray and fill it with the prepared potting mix. Make half-inch deep holes in each cell with your finger. Put one to two strawberry seeds into each hole. Cover the seeds with a very thin layer of potting mix, ensuring they are not completely covered and are exposed to light.

Step 4: Watering and Placement

• 50% normal garden soil

• 40% organic compost

• 10% fine sand or river sand

Mix them well and fill the pot with the potting mix.

Step 6: Planting Seedlings

Make holes in the potting mix and plant the seedlings one by one. Ensure the crown of the plant is above the soil surface. Keep at least a five to six-inch gap between two plants for better growth, as they produce runners that need space to extend.

Water when the soil appears dry at the surface, and always water the crown of the plant while avoiding watering the fruit, as this may cause fruit to rot. Add mulch around the strawberry plants to retain soil moisture and keep the fruit safe from sitting directly on the bare soil.

Place the pot in full sun during winter. If the temperature rises above 35 degrees Celsius, keep the pot in partial shade.

Step 8: Harvesting

Strawberries will ripen over the course of a week or two. Check daily and harvest all that are ripe by snapping the stem directly above the fruit. This will also keep theberry freezing its juice and keep it plump and fresh longer.
